Choose either “Office Meeting” or “Phone Call Appointment” on the booking page. You’ll then see all available times to select. After choosing, an accountant will be assigned, and their name will appear on the booking page.

Booking with a Specific Accountant
Double-click an accountant’s photo to go to their booking page. Select the meeting type, date, and time. Some accountants may have limited availability.

Booking Confirmation
You’ll receive a confirmation message and email after booking. Reminders will be sent, and you can cancel or reschedule through the email link.
Please make sure you book the right time, with the right person , and for the right type of appointment.
Right Time:
Ensure you book within the correct time zone. We are in Ottawa, which is in the Eastern Time Zone (UTC/GMT). Tax preparation appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes.
Right Person:
You can choose any available accountant. If you’re a returning client and need a follow-up appointment, please book with the same accountant.
Right Type of Appointment:
- Office Meeting: In-person appointments at our office.
- Phone Call Appointment: We’ll call the number you provide when booking. Please note that we cannot make international calls, and we don’t use Zoom/WhatsApp. Occasionally, our calls might not reach you due to scam protection or other issues. If you don’t receive our call at the scheduled time, please contact us via phone or email.

To book the most convenient appointment, simply select the meeting type—either “Office Meeting” or “Phone Call Appointment.” below. This will display a broader range of available appointment times for you to select. After you pick your preferred day and time, the system will automatically assign an accountant to your appointment, whose name will be visible on your booking page.
What to Expect During the Appointment

We will gather your information
If you are returning clients, we’ll update any changes in your circumstances, such as marital status, address, or dependents. If you are new clients, we’ll input your information (legal name, SIN, date of birth, address, etc.) and obtain CRA authorization to access your tax slips from the CRA system.

We will prepare your tax returns.
We’ll use the CRA system to auto-fill your tax information and then cross-check it with the details you provide to ensure accuracy. During this process, we’ll clarify any uncertainties, address your concerns, and work to optimize your tax return.

We will finalize and submit your tax returns
Once your tax return is complete, we’ll review the final results with you, addressing any remaining issues or questions. After receiving your confirmation and signature (either digital or paper), we’ll collect the payment for our services and submit your tax return to the CRA. If you have multiple tax returns or a particularly complicated situation, We will either accommodate your needs or schedule a follow-up appointment as necessary. You do not need to book multiple appointments.
Please Note:
- Please gather all your tax slips and prepare any questions you may have for the appointment.
- For phone call appointments, make sure you are available at the scheduled time and have access to the internet, email, and your tax documents. It’s best to be at home or in a quiet place, rather than in your car, street, or in a noisy environment.
- For office meetings, please arrive on time and remember the name of the accountant you booked with.
- While preparing your taxes by phone call appointment, we will email you a digital signature request (don’t worry, it is very easy), your tax returns, and you can pay us by etransfer or by providing your credit card details.
- We limit appointments to 30 minutes, as most tax preparations can be completed within that time. If you have multiple tax returns or a particularly complicated situation, please note this in your booking details. We will either accommodate your needs or schedule a follow-up appointment as necessary. You do not need to book multiple appointments.

Book your appointment when you have all your tax information ready:
- Employed with a Basic Return: Ensure all T4s and other slips are available. While these may be accessible in your CRA account, there can be delays, especially if you come in early at the start of the new tax season.
- Self-Employed, Corporation, Rental Property Owners, Moving Expenses, etc.: Please use the checklist to organize your tax information.
- Similar to Last Year? If your tax situation is similar to the previous year, gather similar tax information(e.g., donations, medical, child care).
- New Situations: If you have new tax scenarios and need guidance, please email or call us.

If you are booking a follow-up appointment, please make sure you book with the same accountant, as they have already begun working on your taxes. If you worked with one of our accountants last year, it is recommended to book with them again, as they are likely familiar with your situation.
If this is your first time doing taxes with Solid Tax, you can either choose a specific accountant or simply select the most convenient available appointment time.

We do not offer appointments longer than 30 minutes, and here’s why:
- Most tax returns can be completed within 30 minutes.
- We prioritize efficiency. During your appointment, we stay focused and make the most of the 30 minutes. Longer appointments may lead to inefficiencies.
- To help us work efficiently, we ask for your cooperation. Please be prepared.
- If your tax return is more complex, we will do our best to accommodate it or schedule a follow-up appointment if needed.

· We strive to complete your tax return in a single appointment, as this approach is more efficient and reduces the likelihood of errors.
· However, if your tax situation is complex—such as business taxes or multiple years' filings—we may require additional time to finish your return. During the appointment, we will gather and clarify your information, address your concerns, and answer any questions you have. Any remaining work will be completed after the appointment. We can communicate via email, or you can schedule another appointment to finalize your tax return.
· Additionally, if we are unable to complete your tax return because you forgot to provide necessary information (such as medical expenses, donations, daycare expenses, etc.), another appointment will be necessary. In such cases, we reserve the right to charge an additional fee for the extra time required. Therefore, please be prepared and ensure all relevant information is available during your appointment.

No, we can complete two basic family tax returns within a 30-minute appointment.

Please cancel or reschedule your appointment at least 4 hours before the scheduled time. You can do this through the link provided in your email confirmation. Please avoid calling to cancel, as we are extremely busy during tax season and may not be able to answer or check all phone calls and voicemails.

We strongly recommend booking an appointment through our website at solidtax.ca. We prefer not to take bookings over the phone for the following reasons:
- When booking by phone, details must be recorded manually, which increases the chance of errors.
- Phone bookings do not provide confirmation or reminders, leading to confusion and missed appointments.
- It is inefficient. As a small business without administrative staff, all of us are tax accountants managing over a thousand tax returns each year, so we need to make the best use of our time.

No, we don’t like to accept walk-ins. During tax season, our appointments are usually booked back-to-back. While there may occasionally be 5-10 minute gaps, serving a walk-in client could make us late for the next scheduled appointment, which is unfair to those who booked in advance.
After tax season, things slow down, and some of our accountants may choose to work from home. As a result, walking in without an appointment may mean you won’t receive the service you need.
